The former English and Latin teacher, of Hook village, Warsash, had enjoyed many adventures on the open road abroad.
He drove from Buenos Aires to New York in a 1925 Austin 7 Chummy in 1960 and subsequently wrote a book of his adventure entitled 'Colemans Drive'.

He is survived by his son and daughter and 3 grandchildren.
