pearl brakes

Postby scrooge on Wed Jul 28, 2010 11:36 am

My pearl brakes are of a type I am not familliar with and wonderd if anyone was aware of the positioning of the front cam operating levers.?
1935 Pearl with the front cables being a pair of cables with inner and outers.
At the cross shaft there is a 5" bar which has the inner cables attached with the outer tethered to 2 short plates dropping down from the cross member just by the front radius arm swivel mount.
The cables are then looped over the front axle to an anchor point on the front backplate were a 5/16" thin nut holds the to the back plate just under the front shoe.
the inner cable then comes down to a dog lgged operating lever where it is held by a clevis pin.
I am unsure whish direction the dog leg lever should sit.
I have replaced the cams and bushes , shimmed the pivot post and replaced the alluminium short shoe end caps.
