Type 65 front spring

Hi All...

Fitting a replacement front spring to a Type 65 front axle.

Its been sold as a new spring for a nippy - was ordered some time ago and has been sitting around in stock for a while! (at least 10 years). The spring currently fitted has 6 or 7 thin leaves, but 3 have been cut through making the spring too soft so the front tyre on one side has worn a hole in the mudguard.

This replacement spring has only 5 leaves and they are much thicker than the ones on the previous spring. Its also flat (so may end up being reverse camber when weight is put on it). Perusing pictures and diagrams in the Type 65/Nippy book, the front spring seems to be either positive or negative camber (although apparently negative is correct), and seems to always have 6 or 7 thin leaves. The pictures are fairly grainy but there's a clear diagram of a negative camber spring with, I think, 7 thin leaves.

I'm just wondering how incorrect this replacement spring really is. Is it going to be OK or will everyone I see (eventually, one day...) tell me I've fitted the wrong type of front spring? Is it the spring from a van? Should I not care?

Cheers!
